Kongsberger Stampede

15k & 5k Freestyle Ski Race

The Kongsberger Stampede is the second of three Kongsberger Ski Club cross-country ski races this winter and the club's oldest race. The Stampede is a fun and approachable race for both new and experienced racers.

Distances & Fees
 15k ♦ Freestyle (skate or classic) Technique
  Masters & Seniors: $30  ($60 day of race)
  Juniors: $5  ($35 day of race)
 5k ♦ Freestyle (skate or classic) Technique
  Masters & Seniors: $25  ($55 day of race)
  Juniors: free  ($30 day of race)
 • Open to all skiers age class U16 (J2) and up (14 years and older)
 • Juniors are age 19 and younger (born on/after 1/1/1999)
 • Racers & coaches, contact the Race Director if you have questions.
 Children's Freestyle Races(click here for info) are run on the same day starting at 10:30 am for skiers age 13 years and under.

Registration
 Online registration opens in mid January. Register online to avoid late fee.
 • Day-of-race registration 7:30am-8:30am (at cabin, $30 late fee, cash or check only).

 • No refunds.

Start Times
Mass starts, in waves by speed.
 15k - first wave 9:30 AM
 5k - immediately after last 15k wave
 • Bib pick-up for all racers from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on race day in basement of Kongsberger cabin.
 • Return bibs at finish line.
 • Race cut-off times may be imposed. Check on race day.
 • Ski changes during race are not allowed.

Location
Cabin and race course are on the north side of interchange at Cabin Creek Sno-Park, exit #63 on I-90, 10 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass. Washington State Parks Sno-Park permit with Grooming Sticker required to park. Click here to purchase Seasonal or 1-day permit.
Racers may use the Kongsberger club cabin and waxing shed on race days.
Please consider car-pooling.

Race Course
Kongsberger race course is on the Cabin Creek trail system (trail map) on US Forest Service land, north side of I-90. 15k race is three laps, 5k race is one lap. Course follows the Berg-Viking-Boundary loop trails. Check race course map in cabin on race day.

Feed Stations & Post-Race Food
Food for racers provided at finish area. Water station on course is stocked with water and Nuun (electrolytes but no calories). Racers should carry any drinks or food needed during the race. Post-race hot food and beverages in cabin.

Awards, Medals & Prizes
Top 3 mens and womens awards for each race given at post-race ceremony. Age group winners announced and pick up medals downstairs in cabin after ceremony. Draw prizes at ceremony, must be present to win.

Lodging
Closest accomodations are in Cle Elum (20 miles east), and at Snoqualmie Pass summit (11 miles west).

Non-Racing Skiers & Spectators
All ski trails are still open to non-racing skiers. Non-racing skiers are invited to watch races at the start/lap/finish area or along the trails. However, they should consider skiing at another location on race mornings (eg Hyak, Crystal Springs or Lake Easton) as Cabin Creek parking and trail use will be intensive from 9:00 to 11:00 am. As always, dogs are not permitted on groomed trails at Cabin Creek.
